On World Radiotherapy Awareness Day, Icon Cancer Centre UK recognises the vital role radiotherapy plays in cancer care and the importance of improving access to advanced treatment for more patients, closer to home.
We’re joining the global cancer care community in recognising the life-changing role radiotherapy plays in modern cancer treatment.
Radiotherapy is recommended for more than half of all cancer patients worldwide. Yet for many people, timely access to treatment remains a challenge, particularly as demand for cancer care continues to rise.
At Icon Cancer Centre, we are helping expand access to world-class radiotherapy across the UK through advanced technology, clinical expertise, strong partnerships and innovative models of care.
Our growing UK network includes soon-to-be reopened centres in Reading, Bedlington and Newport, alongside planned developments across Brighton, Derby, Warwickshire and Leeds. Together, these services are focused on bringing high-quality cancer care closer to home for more patients and communities.
As the network grows, so too does our multidisciplinary team of radiation oncologists, radiation therapists, medical physicists, nurses and support professionals. Their expertise, collaboration and compassion are central to delivering safe, personalised care for every patient.
In this video, Icon Europe CEO Aldo Rolfo and Icon Group UK Chief Medical Officer Dr Penny Kechagioglou discuss how innovation, collaboration and partnerships with Varian and Radformation are helping advance radiotherapy across the UK.
Featuring Icon Cancer Centre London’s integrated radiotherapy platform, the video highlights how advanced radiotherapy technology is enabling greater precision and efficiency, while supporting access to the latest treatment advances closer to home.
