With you, every moment that matters

Everyone in your multidisciplinary team is trained to support you with your own needs throughout treatment. Below are some of the people you may meet and the role they have in your care.

Medical oncologists

Doctors who specialise in diagnosing and treating cancers and blood disorders, including cancers of the blood and bone marrow. They use treatments such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy and hormone therapies, develop and regularly review treatment plans, and often lead and coordinate a patient’s overall care.

Clinical oncologists

Specialist doctors who prescribe radiotherapy treatments for all types of cancer and oversee the management of care for patients.

Medical physicists

Physicists play an important role in quality assurance to ensure our radiation treatment machines are maintained according to regulatory standards and that our working environment abides by radiation safety policies.

Nuclear medicine physicians

Doctors who specialise in using radioactive materials to diagnose and treat diseases such as cancer.

Medical receptionist and administration team members

Team members who are on hand to answer any questions you may have relating to your appointment bookings, transport and accommodation requirements, and billing enquiries.

Radiographers

Team members who are responsible for the planning and delivery of your daily radiotherapy treatments.

Clinical nurse specialists

Nurses who support your overall wellbeing throughout your treatment, including administering your chemotherapy, monitoring your symptoms and managing any side effects. They can answer any questions you may have and provide additional sources of information.

Pharmacists

Team members who are committed to supporting your care. Pharmacists work with you, alongside your doctor and nursing team, to make sure the treatment you receive is optimal and safe and answer any questions about your medications.
