Icon Group and Nuffield Health announce three new cancer centres in the UK
These centres will enhance access to world-class cancer care, addressing the growing demand for advanced radiation therapy services.
This announcement follows Icon’s acquisition of Cancer Centre London (CCL) in December 2024, further strengthening the collaboration between Icon and Nuffield Health, which first commenced in August 2023.
Increasing access to comprehensive cancer care
These new centres will see Icon deliver radiation oncology services that complement Nuffield Health’s existing surgical, healthcare and day oncology services.
The locations for the new centres were carefully chosen based on several key factors including the under-utilisation of radiation therapy in these regions and the need to reduce travel and wait times for cancer treatment.
In each of these regions, the new Icon Cancer Centre sites will improve pathways for patients, offering rapid access to care alongside the very best new technology and provide an alternative for patients who have private cover or are self-insured. Additionally, the centres will alleviate travel times, with patients in these regions currently travelling an average two hour round trip to access private radiotherapy.
Addressing the cancer burden through world-class care
Icon Group CEO, Mark Middleton OAM said these centres reaffirm the partnership and the organisations’ shared commitment to addressing the UK’s rising cancer rates.
“Radiation therapy is under-utilised in the UK, with fewer than 30% of cancer patients receiving it, less than the recommended rate of 40%1,” said Mark.
“By integrating advanced radiation oncology into our hospitals, we’re providing patients comprehensive, seamless care that aligns with the highest clinical standards.
“This expansion reinforces our joint commitment to improving access to cancer treatment and reflects Icon’s proven model of partnerships and integrated care, which has seen us turn the dial on cancer care in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.”
Proven partnership advancing care
Icon and Nuffield Health’s existing partnership at Icon Cancer Centre London, immediately adjacent to Nuffield Health Parkside Hospital, has already led to improved technical capability, patient experience, and medical leadership. The same approach will be applied to these new sites.
Nuffield CEO, Alex Perry emphasised the success of the partnership.
“When we began this partnership, it was always the intention for Icon to introduce a world-class radiation therapy offering which augments our highly established comprehensive core healthcare services,” said Alex.
“These new centres will help alleviate wait times, introduce advanced radiation therapy services to these communities, and make a difference to cancer outcomes.”

Cementing UK commitment to integrated health care
This expansion follows Icon’s acquisition of leading specialist manufacturer and clinical homecare provider,
“Our growth in the UK reflects our proven processes and long-term vision to reducing the global cancer burden and, most importantly, improving the lives of people, families and communities,” said Mark.
Further updates to come as the work takes shape.
